What is Adapalene?
Adapalene is a form of retinoids that is applied as a gel or cream. It is meant to unclog pores and moderate inflammation. You generally see improvements in 8 to 12 weeks if you are going to see results. It is the key ingredient in Differin, and it is primarily used to treat mild to moderate cases of acne. It has also been used to treat keratosis pilaris.
What Ingredients are in Adapalene?
So essentially speaking, you are using this product for 2-3 months, not actually knowing whether or not it is going to work. It should only be used in concentrations of 0.025% due to the potential damage it could do to your skin, even with that extremely small amount. You also have to wonder what else they are filling the formula with. But most prescriptions use largely multiplied amounts, such as 1%.
What Else Should I Know about Adapalene?
Adapalene is an active component in treating acne, but at what cost. How many side effects will you suffer and how much damage will it do to your skin. It is extremely expensive as a prescription, and we believe that its risks outweigh its benefits at this point in time. It is meant to be combined with proven components such as benzyl peroxide, but really an effective acne treatment should be able to work as a stand alone. And 2-3 months is a long time to wait to see results.
