What is Retin-A?

A vitamin A based acne treatment, Retin-A can be found in gel or cream versions, and it is also based on the active ingredient of tretinoin. It is meant to stimulate skin growth, shedding off dead skin cells and thickening the epidermis. It is supposed to be a quite natural exfoliant and a collagen producer. Some users however have reported further breakouts, especially within the first 2 weeks, because dead skin cells were not being sluffed off and instead built up in the pores. Others have also reported dryness, redness, swelling, blistering, and increased sun sensitivity.
